Hi Crowd!
As I sit here in my advanced age thinking back on my youth I imagine a time when I could recall anything at the drop of a hat and quickly rattle off books/movies/albums I’d enjoyed over the last year without hesitation. Those days are long gone and unless I’ve written it on my whiteboard or on a post or note or in one of my many half filled notebooks the chances that I will forget it are more than zero.
While reading a few people’s “best of 2025” posts (including Thurston Moore’s 350 best albums) I thought to myself holy shit how can these people remember all this crap? But then I thought to myself you moron they aren’t remember it they wrote it down somewhere! Which gave me the idea that I should write it down somewhere too. I’ve actually tried this in the past in some of the aforementioned notebooks and it was mildly successful for the few months I remembered to do it.
I’m also trying to use my phone for less social media and more writing and reflection so this seemed like an ideal way to combine those goals and I went ahead and set up these three lists in notes. Of course they are empty right now because 2026 hasn’t quite started yet, but this gives me a few days to talk myself out of it or reaffirm my commitment to it. Only time will tell which.
Anyway, I thought it was the kind of idea that if someone else had and told me about it later I’d think damn why didn’t they tell me that before because now it’s already January 4th so I can’t possibly start such a thing this far into the year, so I’m telling you now, early, so you can do it too. If this is the kind of thing you like doing.
And speaking of reduced social media, I don’t want to make a big thing about it but 2026 will be 20 years since 2006 which is when I joined twttr which became Twitter and then became X and then became a complete pile of shit so I think 20 years is enough for anyone. Also as a reminder I’m also trying to use The Crowd telegram group to send out links and news and whatever throughout the day. So again, if you are into such things, please to enjoy.
That’s all for now, hope your holidays have been relaxing and/or productive and/or enjoyable. I’ve been busy, and will tell you all about what I’ve been up to soon.
xoxo
